A ‘Luscious’ Scrunchie DIY

Scrunchies have made a big comeback, but they don’t all have to be made of fabric. Think yarn! It’s true; your next scrunchie can be a ‘luscious’ one that you’ve crocheted! Make & give them as gift or gift them to yourself.

What You Need:

  • One Ball of #5 Bulky Yarn
  • 7mm (K-10.5) Crochet Hook
  • 25cm (10”) of Elastic Cord
  • Craft Glue

Abbreviations:
CH(S) = chain(s)
HDC = half double crochet
SL ST = slip stitch
ST = stitch

What You Do:

STEP 1:
Tightly tie ends of elastic together. Apply glue on the knot to ensure it is securely attached. Allow glue to fully dry before using.

STEP 2:
CH6, loop CHS around the elastic and SL ST into the first CH.

STEP 3:
HDC in each CH or ST in the round, keeping the elastic in the centre. Continue to HDC until you are happy with the level of scrunch.

STEP 4:
SL ST ends together. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
