Hot Air Balloon Baby Mobile
Float off to dreamland with this cute Hot Air Balloon Baby Mobile DIY. A simply, sweet project to make as a gift or for your own little one!
What You Need
- Sewing Machine & Thread
- Pencil, Scissors & Pins
- Embroidery Hoop & Floss
- Lightweight Felt
- Pom Pom & Tassel Trim
- Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
What You Do
Step 1: Trace and cut out Basket pattern from Lightweight Felt. Sew at 1/4”(0.6cm) to create a box. Then sew at 1/8” (0.3cm) along the bottom perimeter to create a faux seam. Turn inside out.
Step 2: Trace and cut out Small and Large Cloud patterns from Lightweight Felt. Starting from the top, Blanket stitch pairs together with Embroidery Thread. Leave various lengths of excess thread.
Step 3: Trace and cut out Star pattern from Lightweight Felt. Starting from one point, Blanket stitch pairs together with Embroidery Thread. Leave various lengths of excess thread.
Step 4: Trace and cut out Balloon pattern from Lightweight Felt of various colours. Sew side seams to each other at 1/4” (0.6cm) starting from the bottom. Turn inside out and stuff with excess felt or scrap fabric.
Step 5: Trace and cut out Star pattern from Lightweight Felt. Glue to the top of the Hot Air Balloon.
Step 6: Attach fun trims to the outside rim of the embroidery hoop with hot glue.
Step 7: Cut three pieces of trim at 14” (35.5cm) each. Space them equally apart on the inside of the hoop and glue in place. Tie together at the top.
Step 8: Glue pieces of trim along the raw edges of the Basket and Balloon openings.
*Optional: At this stage you can decorate the Balloon with Rick Rack, Buttons or other fun notions.
Step 9: Using Transparent Thread or Embroidery Thread attach Balloon, Clouds and Stars to Embroidery Hoop and hang them at various heights as you go.
Step 10: Sew Embroidery Thread to the four corners of the Basket and attach to the bottom opening of the Balloon.
