SUPPLIES
• Sturdy fabric, such as indoor or outdoor decor fabric • Decorative Trim of your choice • 32” Cord (2) • Scissors • Ruler/Measuring Tape • Sewing Machine • Iron • 14mm Grommets (4) • Hammer/Mallet
STEP 1: Cut 4 (16”x18”) rectangles of your fabric.
STEP 2: Cut 2 squares (2”x2”) off the bottom corners of your rectangles as shown.
STEP 3: Sew on decorative trim to the right side of the fabric.
TIP: Don’t be afraid to get creative!
STEP 4: Sew the sides and base of the rectangles together, wrong side facing out. Leave a 1/2” seam and leave corners and the bag opening unstitched.
STEP 5: Pinch the corner gaps together and stitch them shut. This will be the base of your bag.
STEP 6: Repeat Steps 2-5 for the second look.
STEP 7: Once you have completed the stitching for both looks, flip Look #1 wrong side out and keep Look #2 right side out. Place Look #2 into Look #1.
STEP 8: Sew the openings of the bags together.
STEP 9: Mark holes 4-5” away from the edge of the bag for the handles. Use your grommets as a template to mark the hole size and cut accordingly.
STEP 10: Insert grommets into holes and hammer together follow grommet package instructions. NOTE: Complete this step on a sturdy surface.
STEP 11: Loop in your cord and tie a knot to secure. OPTIONAL: Fray edges of knot
PRO TIP: Use an iron to press your stitches between steps for easier handling and cleaner look.
SM approx 6 x 9” (15 x 23cm) MED approx 9 x 12” (12 x 30cm) LG approx 12 x 15” (30 x 38cm)
What you do:
1. Add 1” (2.5cm) to the width and 2” (5cm) to the height of bag dimensions. For the large size bag cut 2 pieces 13” (33cm) x 17” (43cm).
2. Fold the top edge of each piece down 1/2” (1.25cm) and press.
3. Pin the 2 pieces right sides together. Mark 1.5” (3.75cm) from the top edges and stitch around sides and bottom between markings. Zigzag stitch or serge sewn edges to prevent fraying.
4. Clip seam at markings and press open. Fold top down 1” (2.5cm) and topstitch along the bottom folded edge to create the cord casing.
5. Using a safety pin, thread the cord through the casings and knot both ends together to secure.
Optional: Add a cord stopper to keep your bag tightly closed and cord end caps for a more polished look.

What is Cosplay?
Costume play, or what is more popularly known as COSPLAY, is a decades old visual form of performance celebrating pop culture fandom.
Participants express themselves through highly creative dress up and role playing drawing inspiration from geek pop culture including, but not limited to video games, animation, comic books, literature and movies.
Cosplay is multidisciplinary, involving styling, hair and make up, prop making and, of course, costuming! Despite its crafting and sewing fundamentals, it’s inclusive of all skill levels. Cosplayers attend pop culture fandom conventions known as Cons.
The most actively visited ones include International Comicon and Canadian FanExpo. Here they can enter Cosplay competitions where the higher standard of accuracy in the construction of their character is recognized as Competition Cosplay; whereas Convention Cosplay focuses on the fun of dress up rather than the level of skill.
In either case, this passionate artistic hobby embraces crafting, imagination and innovation; all characteristics of the Fabricland community!
Although, Fabricland has always been a go-to place for all Cosplay needs, Cosplayers can further indulge their imagination and craft the heroes they want with this new collection.
